Response to Revelation

Then Jehoshaphat knelt low with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the LORD to worship him. Then the Levites from the sons of the Kohathites and the Korahites stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel shouting loudly.
In the morning they got up early and went out to the wilderness of Tekoa. As they were about to go out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem. Believe in the LORD your God, and you will be established; believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.” Then he consulted with the people and appointed some to sing for the LORD and some to praise the splendor of his holiness. When they went out in front of the armed forces, they kept singing:
Give thanks to the  LORD,
for his faithful love endures forever."
We’ve talked already about how the struggle Judah and Jerusalem faced was insurmountable.  They were defeated on their own.  They prayed to God.  God answered them through Jahaziel’s message.

The message was so very detailed.  Stand.  No other information.  No battle strategy.  No humanly understood “how” of the enemy’s defeat.  Just stand.  Jehoshaphat fell to the ground in worship before the entire community of Judah at the prophesy.  God had answered his prayer and he worship as the representative of the people.  The people followed suit.  They worshiped.  No knowledge.  No detail.  No plan.  Just stand.

Placing myself in Jehoshaphat’s sandals, I would not fall to the ground in worship. I would not be pleased with the direction he was given.  I would have begged for more information.  Yelled.  Stomped and cried that we were going to be crushed.  Where is the detail?  How are the enemies going to be defeated?

Jehoshaphat’s and Judah’s response to the revelation…worship.  What is our response when attacks happen?  Do we worship?  Do we mourn?  Are we angry?  What is the condition of our hearts?  Our God is great and we should worship Him because of His greatness.  As I look at the response of Jehoshaphat and what I believe my response would be.  I have spiritual growth that I should pursue.

  1. What is your response when attacks happen?
  2. Do you worship?
  3. Do you mourn?
  4. Are you angry?
  5. What is the condition of your heart?
