Silent Surrender

If we are always looking toward the next thing, then we will spend most of our lives waiting and missing out on our life. We were created to live our life only in the NOW. Maybe we need to learn to embrace and enjoy the wait.
We need to learn to wait on God. I believe the most important part of our prayer time is when we come before the Lord and wait on Him to prepare us for whatever is to come. I find it much easier to wait and trust God when I spend a great deal of my prayer time praising God for who He is, and thanking Him for what He has done. According to Psalm 100:4, we enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise.
When I spend time rehearsing the greatness of God and remembering that even though He is awesome, almighty, all powerful and vast; He still wants to be in a personal relationship with me (and with each one of us). Wow!!!
When we pray, let’s take time to focus on God. If we are looking to see how to pray for our nation, our families or our circumstances, we need to wait for God to show us how to pray. As we wait for God to respond, we are demonstrating surrender and trust to Him. We are not leaning on our own understanding. Surrendering to God frees us from self importance and gives us proper perspective. (Recognizing that He is God and we are not— He has the answers and we do not) This is rightfully humbling.)
God can change our circumstances, and He can change hearts. We just need to remember our proper place.
We are to be ready and available for God to use. As He uses us, His glory is revealed through us and becomes the light in a dark world.
It is for our good and God’s glory for us to wait on God.
- Spend some time in prayer counting the many blessing that come from God and thank Him.
- Spend some time praising God for who He is. Don’t rush through it. This can become the best part of your prayer time.
- Once you have finished 1 and 2, take a little time basking in His presence. I suggest journalling afterward.
- Then submit your cares and requests to Him and asked Him how you ought to pray. Then wait for a reply.
